As most of you know, we are having a boy, Jacob Thomas, in September. I have been out of school for about 2 weeks now and have felt the urge to get EVERYTHING done which most people call “nesting.” I have a list a mile long of things to do around the house. Most of which calls for other people to do it. This past weekend I got one of the checks on the checklist off. I just love checking stuff of the list. I guess that’s my personality. This check was to paint the nursery. Most people might just paint it one color and very basic but I wanted to do something different.
Ben and I got inspiration from his Aunt Nola’s dining room. She recently repainted it and it was very cool. She did a stripe pattern but they’re not obvious stripes because they are the same color. The only thing is that one stripe is flat paint and the other glossy or satin finish. This way when the light hits it, you can see it really well but it doesn’t stand out too much.
So to do the project we needed some help since I’m not really supposed to be around paint fumes and stuff. My Mom and Brad (stepdad) came up to help. Mom painted the bottom part of the wall which is a brown color and she painted the armoire I currently had to make it white. Then Brad painted the blue of the wall and helped Ben with taping off the stripes and painting the stripes. It turned out better than I had expected. In a couple of weeks we’ll be adding a chair railing to where the brown and blue meet and that will really finish it off. Well, enough of my rambling. Here are some pictures of how it all turned out.
Oh, and the crib and changing table was a gift from my Mom and I love them. Ben put the crib together last night.
